This weekend my family celebrated Mabon, the Autumnal
Equinox and the turning of the Wheel of the Year. My favorite festivals are
rooted in thanksgiving. It just feels magical to welcome in my favorite season
on this great Mother Earth and give thanks for her bounty.
It’s a calling to the rhythms, to the melodies, and the
chorus of nature.
DANCE! – Take her hand and let her lead you with her winds
of whimsy!
DANCE! – Jump with her through the summer moonlight!
DANCE! – Let her whirl you over ocean waves!
DANCE! – Waltz through snowflakes and skate on her ice!
If you choose to sit it out, she’ll dance without you
anyway.
She needs neither validation nor permission –
BUT – remember, she demands admiration.
You must admire her capabilities of destruction; lightning,
volcanoes, rock-carving winds, and waves that lay waste to civilizations.
Even though we continue to pollute and scar the landscape,
nature ALWAYS prevails. We are so temporary. Mother Earth will endure.
--I choose to dance.
